Rustic American Country Style Home Interior
Recreating Early America
Creating the feeling of the Early American Country Style home interior is as much fun and it is practical. The vibrant colors and simple designs of long ago are pleasing and comforting to the eyes. The old farmhouses of this era were practical and inviting with their color schemes, accents, and simple furnishings.
Furnishings and Colors
The furnishings in a country home were simple and durable. The colors were practical and pleasing to the eye. When you entered a home with a Country Style home interior, you would notice that things did not always match.
The kitchen area, many times, would have a white washed table with a gingham checked table cloth on it. The chairs would be pastel paint and they did not always match. The use of area rugs on stained wooden floors was popular. Accents with images of roosters, chickens and other farm animals were popular.
Living rooms supported vintage fabrics on the furniture and colors of pale blues, pastel pinks, lilac, sage green, cornflower blue, to mention a few. Some of the accent colors would be creamy whites, brick reds, and beige. Some brown, navy and creamy yellow were also used.
Some of the furnishings in the living room tended to be wicker with gingham checked fabrics. Other pieces included well-worn rockers and hope chests that were used for coffee tables. Some of the older farm type homes sported darker shades of wall colors, giving a rich look to their room and their country style home interior plan.
Bedrooms would not complete if they did not have a wrought iron bed that had been painted black or some dark color. The bed covers were a handmade patchwork design that was usually colorful. They used left over pieces of cloth to make these masterpieces and were hand stitched. Bulky chests of simple design held their personals.
